SS27 - BIRTA
Birta Ólafsdóttir is a curator and designer based between Switzerland and Paris. She designs bold, sculptural objects that are shaped by the rawness of her Icelandic heritage.
For her collaboration with OLT, she returned to the house's founding idea of the clutch as a book, turning to the Poetic Edda, the medieval Icelandic manuscript that preserves the myths of the Norse gods, passed down orally for centuries across Scandinavia before they were written in Iceland in the 13th century.
The result is "Tales of Goddesses Unleashed," a capsule of three unique bags reimagined as vintage comic-book covers, each casting a goddess as a fashionable, modern-day warrior: Frigg, the Supreme Cosmic Mother; Freyja, Queen of Cats and Divine Chaos; and Idunn, Guardian of the Golden Orchard.
